Charities We Support

This year The Junior Aid Society was able to grant $30,000 to twelve deserving charities on Boston's North Shore.  The 2010-2011 grant recipients are listed below with information on the programs we have chosen to support.  If you would like to find out more about these organizations just click on their names and you will be directed to their websites.

If you are a 501 (c)(3) organization interested in requesting funds please download our 2011 - 2012 Grant Application Form.  This form lists the guidelines and requirements for organizations seeking funding.  The deadline for 2011 - 2012 grant requests is May 4, 2012

HAWC

HAWC provides free comprehensive and confidential domestic violence programs and services in 23 North Shore, Massachusetts communities from Saugus to Rockport.  This year we have chosen to support the expansion of HAWC's Parent/Child Trauma Recovery Program to Lynn families.  Amount granted - $3,300.

RAW Art Works

RAW Art Works is a nonprofit youth arts organization founded in 1988.  RAW provides innovative ways for young people to engage in art-making that can and does transform their lives.  It is located in Lynn, MA.  This year we have chosen to support three art therapy programs for girls - "Mariposa" (elementary), "Art 4 Girlz" (middle school) and "Women 2 Be" (high school).  Amount granted - $3,300.

Family and Children's Services of Greater Lynn

FCS Lynn's mission is to strengthen the life skills of families, children and individuals of all ages.  This year we have chosen to support the asset building program for girls called "The Right Moves".  Amount granted - $3,000.

Girls Inc. of Lynn

Girls Inc.'s mission is to inspire girls to be strong, smart and bold by meeting the needs of girls in the community, developing girls' capacity to overcome the effects of discrimination and be self-sufficient, responsible members of the community and by serving as a vigorous advocate for all girls.  This year we have chosen to fund partial scholarships to summer camp.  Amount granted - $2,800.

Boys and Girls Club of Lynn

The Boys & Girls Club of Lynn provides focus, structure and direction for thousands of children in the greater Lynn area.  This year we have chosen to provide camp scholarships and member scholarships to the girls of Lynn.  Amount granted - $1,500.

Massachusetts Coalition for The Homeless

Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless (MCH) works to address the broad economic and social issues that lead to homelessness.  This year we have chosen to support "First Stop", an early intervention program, which provides prevention services directly in the homes of families at risk for homelessness on the North Shore.  Amount granted - $3,500.

Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA

The YMCA of the North Shore is committed to the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.  The Y provides children, adults, and families, regardless of income, with opportunities to develop a healthy spirit, mind and body.  This year we have chosen to provide scholarships to Children's Island, the Y's summer camp.  Amount granted - $3,000.

Lynn Community Health Center

The mission of LCHC is to provide comprehensive, quality health care for everyone in the Greater Lynn community regardless of their ability to pay.  This year we have chosen to support "Baby's First Christmas", an annual celebration for families who have given birth in the previous twelve months.  Amount granted - $1,000.

North Shore Community Mediation Center

NSCMC is committed to promoting the understanding and use of alternative means of dispute resolution, and to providing mediation, training, and related services to organizations, courts, schools, businesses, governments, families, and individuals.  This year we have chosen to support the "Hot Topix" program which serves young women at The Marshal Middle School in Lynn.  Amount granted - $2,100.

The Salem Mission, Inc. dba Lifebridge

Lifebridge (formerly The Salem Mission) is working to offer men and women the opportunities they need to end their homelessness.  This year we have chosen to provide funds for homeless women to attend a 12 week art therapy course.  Amount granted - $2,000.

The Birth to Three Family Center

Birth to Three's mission is to increase children's potential for healthy development and well being. We seek to do this by providing programs and services to support parents and children from birth through age four.  This year we have chosen to support the "Project Play" program.  Amount granted - $2,500.

Housing Families Inc.

Housing Families works to end family homelessness by enriching the lives of children and parents.  This year we have chosen to provide day camp scholarships to homeless children and youth of Revere.  Amount granted - $2,000.
